The Importance of Having the Right Matboard

It is not just the molding that keeps your diploma frame shining. Having the right mat can help your diploma stand out. A diploma frame with contrasting mat colors will highlight your diploma. You will want to choose a mat that is aesthetically appealing and can protect your document for years.

We use acid and lignin-free mats to offer high-quality and durable diploma frames that are meant to last a lifetime. While choosing the right frame style and mat, make sure to get the correct measurements of your diploma as it will be needed to customize your frame. Our Matboards

Our mountboard and matboard are pH neutral and are designed by industry experts. In most cases, the top border of the matboard displays the official seal of your university or school. This seal may be embossed, or a medallion may be selected as an added feature for select schools. The bottom border displays your school or university's name embossed in silver or gold foil.

We offer the option of a double mat on all of our frames. This includes:

1. Primary Mats

While acting to preserve your diploma, primary mats also make your diploma stand out. We have three sub-categories of primary mats depending on their texture, quality, and materials:

• Leather mat- Our acid-free faux leather mats are ideal for an office setting and can complement your leather furniture while preserving your diploma for years to come.

 



 

• Suede mat- A great alternative to the leather mat, our suede mats come in rich, vibrant hues with a velvety texture that exudes sophistication.

 



 

• Traditional mat- Our traditional mats come in a wide variety of colors that can help to show off your school spirit and make your diploma stand out among the rest.

 



 

2. Accent Mats

An accent mat, also known as double-mat, forms the layer below the primary mat. Only a quarter inch of the accent mat is visible within the primary mat’s window.

The purpose of an accent mat is to add depth and personality to your diploma frame. The most popular options would be gold or silver mats to match the gold or silver embossing on your frame, but you are welcome to choose any of the colors available. Most of our diploma frames come with the option to choose an accent mat in any color. With the Executive diploma frames, the accent mat is replaced by a wood fillet around the document in mahogany, gold, or silver.
